We're The Messengers

It’s so wonderful to be a part of God’s story, to be available to share His good news and be His messenger!

The song “We’re the Messengers” was born in 1986 when I was a songwriter in Nashville writing for Meadowgreen Music. I recorded this song many years ago but in 2013 I decided to re-record it and now it is on my new album “Blind Now I See”.

This song came to me while I was improvising on the piano with some various chords. I heard a melody and tears started flowing from my eyes. It was as if God was speaking directly to me and these lyrics and melody came to be. I remember feeling such a closeness to God. No doubt the Lord wrote this song and for a reason.

This song was inspired from Isaiah 61, reflecting “The spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” Isaiah 42:7, “To open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness”.

Other meaningful portions of scriptures relate to this song comes from Acts 13:47-48. God made the disciples to be a, "light for the Gentiles to bring salvation to the ends of the earth. And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord and many were appointed to eternal life and believed, And the word spread throughout the whole region.” Mark 16:15 “He said to them, go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Isaiah and Acts helped me see that we are God’s agents and that He wants to use us to restore the broken hearted and help set the captive free! How exciting to be used by God as His messenger to help save a life!

I pray this song and these bible verses speak to you as they have to me.

Below are the song lyrics.

This song is available to purchase in iTunes and also on my new album “Blind Now I See” in my store.

In His great love,

We’re The Messengers - Lyrics

We are life in a dying world

God reaches through us for the lost boy and girl

We are His strength when the world tumbles down

We are a hope to be found

If you knew there were people who died in the streets

Without ever knowing the comfort of peace

Would you go to the ends of the earth this day?

To reach the soul God wanted to save!

We’re the Messengers of God above

With the message of redeeming love

Spread the message of the One True Living God

Do you see the man reaching to find his home?

He’s drowning in emptiness in a heart alone

Is there someone who’ll reach out to grab his hand?

Tell him that there’s a promised land!

We a are the light for the dying and lost

Give your comfort isn’t worth the cost

To give up your life so another can live

Give a chance for life to begin

Don’t hold Him in

Be a Messenger of God above

With the message of redeeming love

Spread the message of the One True Living God

Knowing you

Hi family & friends,
I wanted to share my new song and video titled “Knowing You”. It is one of the four on my new album “Out Of The Overflow” that brings us into a worshipful experience while reminding us of the many blessings God has shown us. It contains four new songs are “Out of the Overflow”, “Free as You are”, “Holy Is the One” and two re-mastered versions of my favorite classics “I Will Pray For You” and “Whatever You Ask.

“Knowing You” reflects my appreciation for our Savior; how He sacrificially loves us and desires for us to know Him! I love the message of our personal Savior and all he has done for us, how incredible it is that we can know Him! brings us into a worshipful experience while reminding us of the many blessings God has shown us. This song “Knowing You” shares how we are the recipient of all His blessings! He gives us hope, new life, a new mind, assurance, and perseverance to endure our difficult situations. Knowing Jesus makes me want to sing and praise Him now and forevermore and to point others to Him!

I’ve made a new video “Knowing You” and it contains some pictures from my son, Chris’ recent mission trip (including the image shown above, where my son is front right in his mission in Southeast Asia.) As a junior in college, he felt called this past summer to go to Southeast Asia to an unreached people group who have not heard the gospel. While there he was an overflow of God’s light and truth. It has been a blessing to hear of my son’s experiences from his trip and be able to share some of his pictures for this theme ‘Knowing You”!

I pray you enjoy this song and video here! (lyrics below). Lord, thank you for giving us the greatest gift of all; for forgiving us by dying on the cross for us, to take away our sins, to allow us to know You and for giving us new life forever!

In His love,

John 17:3 "Now this is eternal life; that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."

3 John 4 “I have no greater joy to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

Knowing You
By Mark Hauth/Michele Wagner

Verse 1
Every golden sunrise, every crashing ocean wave
The stars reveal Your glory, but we know You
Through the cross of Your great love

Knowing You is the heart of our salvation
Close to You is where we find our home
We've tasted of Your goodness
All Your mercy shining through
There's no greater joy than knowing You

Verse 2
In our times of laughter, in the valleys of our pain
Lord, Your faithfulness will find us there
And through the holy pages, You draw us
What deep communion we can share

Oh Jesus, I want to see your glory
Hear Your truth dwell in Your presence
Wrapped in Your loving kindness
In the secret place where we seek Your face

Chorus 2
Knowing You is the Heart of our salvation
Close to You is where we find our home
We've tasted of Your goodness
All Your mercy shining through
There's no greater joy than knowing You

Free as You are

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is FREEDOM.” - 2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV

I love this verse and this picture of my son, as a child, holding out his hands to the sky and the Lord!

Isn’t it true we can have chains that keep us from experiencing the freedom God desires for us to have?

One day while I was gardening, I noticed how weeds grow so fast, and thought how if we don’t obey God, weeds in our life will begin to form. But, if we obey and spend time with Him, flowers start to bloom and thrive. How fruitful it is when I obey Him, have more of Him and less of me.

And day while playing piano, I came up with an upbeat melody that reminded me of freedom and joy, which I needed to have more of! Looking for completion to this song I co-wrote with Dwight Lilies, and he wrote lyrics that expressed what I was going through. It has become my worship prayer to set me free from the chains of my control, not trusting God, self-focus, people pleasing and self-doubt. How wonderful Jesus was free to please only His Father!

When we surrender our lives to Christ, choose to trust and obey Him, dwell in His Spirit, we can DANCE with Him and have the FREEDOM He created for us! We will have His PEACE to carry out His purpose that he created in us to fulfill for Him. Our lives will bring Him glory and we’ll be free from bondage if we obey Him!

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not let yourself be enslaved to a yoke of slavery.” - Galatians 5:1

Here is my new video. Free As You Are (Lyric Video)

I pray this song and video can be your worship prayer of freedom as it mine too!

“Free As You Are” is available on iTunes along with the rest of the songs from my new EP. "Out Of The Overflow"

You can also order hard copy CD’s from my store here on my website at www.michelewagnermusic.com.

P.S. I’m so grateful Christ overcame sin for us on the cross to set us free. God’s truth leads us to such victory while Satan’s deceit tries to lead us to ruin. What we could not do for ourselves Christ did for us. Some of us grow up being taught that if we are “good” and work hard we will get rewarded; but sometimes we were not good enough to achieve the goal and earn the reward so we fall short. Sometimes we carry this same premise into our Christian lives and feel guilt over our shortcomings for not living the way we should. So we are not happy and have no peace. But true inner peace and strength will come through the love and freedom in Christ. This song reminds us that we are free in Christ and His “gift” is not something we can earn.
